A New PÖTTINGER Harrow for Members of the L’Érable CUMA Farm Machinery Co-Op

Posted on July 09, 2025
Members of the L’Érable CUMA farm machinery cooperative know that innovation is often the key to gain efficiency and make the most of each season. This co-op, which follows a structure known as CUMA (Coopérative d’utilisation de matériel agricole), was founded in the early 2000s by a union born in the 1970s. Four of its fifteen member farms recently joined forces to acquire a new high-performance disc harrow for optimized tillage—Ferme Brassard et Frère, Ferme Bruno Guérard, Ferme Pellerin et Fils, and Ferme Romarc Holstein.

Together, these farms grow over 1,000 acres of crops, including 500 acres tilled with this machine since last spring. They were clear about their needs: they required a sturdy, efficient and versatile piece of equipment with easy-to-adjust working depths to masterfully sow seedbeds in the spring and perform in-depth mixing in the fall.

The Pöttinger 4001 T disc harrow with a double cage roller at the rear fit the bill, so it was delivered in April 2025. The farms soon reaped the benefits of this efficient machine to mix harvest residues into the ground and speed up work without losing stability, no matter the soil type. The top-mounted foldable wheels provide enhanced weight distribution and easy handling at the edge of the field. What’s more, this equipment features NONSTOP protection against stones and a TWIN ARM system to meet the co-op members’ wide range of needs.

The cutting-edge disc harrow was supplied by Groupe Bédard ProAg Inc., a company founded in 1964 that’s based in Victoriaville and Lambton. By adding Pöttinger equipment to its inventory in February 2025, it demonstrated its commitment to keep up with modern farming needs. Pöttinger, a world-class brand of farm machinery, brilliantly completes Groupe Bédard ProAg’s advanced equipment line. Its Grassland line includes mowers, tedders, raking technology, loader wagons and round balers. As for the Arable line, it features a range of ploughs, stubble cultivators, disc harrows, power harrows, short combination cultivators, seeders, front hoppers and more.

With two locations, 34 employees and a reputation built on listening, reliability, honesty, parts availability and 24-hour service, Groupe Bédard ProAg Inc. has positioned itself not only as a distributor, but also a partner in the field. In addition to Pöttinger, the company offers equipment from renowned brands such as Siloking, GEA, IEL, Jeantil, Cosnet, Fort Métal and Avenord.

Julien Soulières, a representative from Groupe Bédard ProAg Inc., finds great satisfaction in his work: “We’re proud to meet the needs of a cooperative as dynamic as the L’Érable CUMA. It’s truly an achievement to help our farmers succeed. ”
